The more theme developers the better! If you’re a theme developer or you’re looking to start, you’ll need the latest Plazmic 4.7 CDK Patch which is now available. The patch addresses some of the issues developers had with the previous version of Plazmic.
While Doug is off at the Developers Conference, I’ll be posting some news from HQ. On that note, the Plazmic 4.6 CDK has gone official on the BlackBerry site and is available for download. Included in the latest version, is an update that will allow you to use your own fonts. I’m looking forward to seeing what themes come from this.

BlackBerry Cool doesn’t often post about unreleased software, so I was hesitant to put this up, but I really want a BlackBerry Bold compatible version of the awesome Super Mario Brothers 3 theme. Word on the Internet is that a version of the Plazmic 4.6 CDK Bundle 20 is available. We’re not going to give you the link, but we’re sure that our friend Ronen can oblige.
First up, sorry for the lateness. The aforementioned server issues slowed production, but no worries- we still recorded and have a heaping two weeks’ worth of news for you this episode. The BlackBerry Thunder and iPhone 3G were both huge news items last week. There are lots of numbers on the ‘net to refute the iPhone’s hype, while the BlackBerry faithful are sticking to their guns and holding out for the BlackBerry Bold. Some more pictures of the BlackBerry Thunder have also floated up, showing off the on-screen keypad and media player, as well as a massive false start by Expansys. This week a lot of stuff was ramping up to a BlackBerry Bold launch, primarily in the form of OS 4.6 software.

The latest version of the Plazmic Content Developer’s Kit has been released, available for free download right over here. The biggest change in this version is that theme developers no longer have to have the BlackBerry Java Desktop Environment installed, which eould make it much more viable for Mac users (who can’t install the JDE) if a Mac version of Plazmic were released. This also seems like convenient timing, what with the highly innovative Crossbar theme just being rereleased last week…

Our buddies at Viigo just announced that they’ve wrapped up their first round of venture capital investment, totalling $6.4 million. Ventures West led the investors, who also poured money into Plazmic back in 2001, so clearly they’ve got an eye for success in BlackBerry space. Viigo’s a great, free, BlackBerry RSS reader that hosts BlackBerry Cool to Go, and we’re pretty excited to see what new features (like the favicon support that’s on the way) that are coming from that fresh funding.
