Brainshark specialize in online multimedia presentations for business that come with analytics to track their effectiveness. Brainshark Mobile allows presentations such as sales force training and CEO messages to be delivered to BlackBerry for viewing on the go. The product sounds a little like what Chalk do for business, but we haven’t heard much from the company since they were acquired by RIM.
Brainshark presentations combine voice narration, PowerPoint slides, video and more. The presentations play as streamed video files when viewed on mobile devices. Through Brainshark’s analytics capabilities, users can see when their presentations were viewed, who viewed them, if content was viewed on a mobile device and what type of device was used.
I have the latest accessory from RIM called the BlackBerry Presenter: a means of displaying PowerPoint presentations from your BlackBerry to a projector. The way it works is fairly simple. To get started, you do the following:
Download the Presenter app to your BlackBerry.
Connect the Presenter to a power outlet.
Connect your projector to the Presenter.
Pair your BlackBerry to the Presenter.
Open a PowerPoint file and in the menu section select “Present”.
After using the device with several different types of PowerPoint presentations, I can say that this accessory had some serious drawbacks, but also more potential than any other accessory RIM has ever made. Click through to continue reading this review
The BlackBerry Presenter is BlackBerry’s newest announcement that has been over a year in the making. At an initial price of $199, it truly was designed for the road warrior in mind. The BlackBerry Presenter is a device that connects your OS 4.6+ device to a projector to present your most beautiful PowerPoint presentations. It is able to display about 90 to 95% of the transitions from PowerPoint. If it can’t it’ll substitute it with “fade in/out” with the same timing to not throw you off. Additionally, if you’re on a BES you can stream your presentation off your server. They’ve made the setup drop dead simple and it’ll auto-configure the resolution. Additionally, the pairing is done for you via a piece of software and you can have numerous Presenters set up campus wide and select the one you’d like to use. It’s powered by Micro USB and outputs via VGA or S-Video to a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768 (XGA). How many of your PowerPoint ninjas are interested?
RIM have just introduced the latest BlackBerry accessory, the BlackBerry Presenter. The Presenter is a compact, lightweight, accessory that lets you easily present PowerPoint files wirelessly from your BlackBerry (and 3rd party Bluetooth enabled devices).
DataViz specializes in document compatibility. Their Documents to Go software is being bundles with OS 4.5 when it’s released, and will allow BlackBerry users to edit Word, Excel, Powerpoint and other document types right from their phone. So far, Documents to Go is the only BlackBerry software they offer (well, plan on offering) so we’ll surely get to see it in action at WES.
Josep recently posted some screenshots of the upcoming DataViz Documents to Go announced at Lotusphere. Documents to Go has been letting Palm, Windows Mobile and Symbian users edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint files for awhile now – about time it comes to BlackBerry, eh? After this first step, maybe we can look forward to wireless syncing to desktop documents sometime soon. Still, we can look forward to Documents to Go being bundled in with OS 4.5 due mid-’08.
