U.S gov’t picks communications companies to duke it out

Comments

US flagVerizon, Level 3, Sprint, AT&T, and Qwest are going to be servicing the American government’s Networx Enterprise contract, which will be worth $20 billion, give or take. Those five companies will have to compete for for each department’s business, but that shouldn’t be a big deal – there’s no doubt enough customers to go around. Moreover, the contract locks these service providers in as the government’s primary sources for the next ten years. $20 billion sounds like a lot for carriers, but for the administration, it’s small potatoes compared to other expenses.
