I have been using BlackBerry Messenger for some time now to organize projects around the office, and I have to say, it is providing some serious competition to my previous solution, Basecamp by 37signals. With the latest updates to BBM, the BlackBerry is an even better tool for SMB (Small to Medium Business).

Cortado has launched their latest product, Cortado Corporate Server 4.0 Professional – a solution tailored to the needs of small and midsize businesses.

Cortado Corporate Server 4.0 Professional gives BlackBerry users mobile access to their corporate network. Using the application, Cortado customers can:

  • Print files in original format on any network or Bluetooth-enabled printer and send them as a fax, or as an e-mail attachment.
  • Create PDFs and access updated database reports directly from their handset.
  • Scan and copy documents with the use of the BlackBerry camera. Images can also be faxed or saved in a project folder.

Cortado Corporate Server Professional is available for $995USD. The price covers 5 users, includes 12 months of support and service updates.

RIM has announced an enhanced BlackBerry Technical Support Service which offers new levels of support and support service options for small to medium sized businesses and large enterprise customers.

These new technical support services are more comprehensive, flexible and scalable and are aimed at helping small-to-mid-sized businesses and large enterprises keep pace with their evolving mobility needs.

The enhanced program features:

  • New levels of support — including three levels for SMB and three levels for enterprise customers.

Previously available in only North America, BlackBerry Unite! has now been localized for all around the globe. Central American, Italian, German, French, Asia Pacific and Spanish versions of the software is available for small groups of up to 5 to share media, contacts, and take care of management tasks. There are plenty of small and medium businesses out there that could use some extra functionality from their BlackBerrys, and when the software is free, it’s hard to go wrong.
