SpinVox does one thing: turn voice into text, in quite a lot of ways. Using their various products you can get voicemails emailed to you immediately, write to your blog by simply speaking into your phone, speak message and have it sent as text to any or all of your friends, dictate a memo and have it sent straight to your email, and quite a bit more. Their products page allows you to simply tell them what you’d like to do, and they’ll show you what service are applicable. Who knows what new applications of the SpinVox engine will come out of their booth at WES?

Telus launches SpinVox service

TelusA bit behind Rogers maybe, but Telus is now offering a visual voicemail service via SpinVox. This will let Canadians on the CDMA network of choice to read transcribed voicemail messages right on their BlackBerry, in a way similar to SimulSays. If it’s anything like Rogers’ offering, you can expect it to cost around 15$/month.

SpinVoxAnnounced back in August, SpinVox’s voicemail-to-text service is now available on Rogers for both French and English-speaking customers. SpinVox will work seamlessly with your existing Rogers mailbox, and will e-mail or SMS your voicemail to you after being transcribed. It’s going for $15/month, which is probably cheaper than SimulScribe if you’re a heavy-duty voicemailer, plus it means you wouldn’t have to screw around with call forwarding. Still, SimulScribe has a few extra bells and whistles; we’re offering a month of SimulScribe for free, so be sure to check out the competition before diving into SpinVox.

SpinVoxIf you tuned in to our WES podcasts, you might remember the name SpinVox, purveyors of some fine voice-to-text software. Today, Rogers announced that SpinVox’s services would be available to subscribers, notably transcribing inbound voicemail into SMS messages. Part of the reason for Rogers’ support of SpinVox in particular is the multilingual support. Here in Ottawa, it’s bilingual central and easy to see how including French language support is a good business move.
