What do people do over the Thanksgiving weekend? Simply put, most follow sports events, travel to see family and enjoy a great feast (or two). Use Viigo to make each of these activities more enjoyable.

Viigo is quickly becoming one of the easiest ways for BlackBerry users to stay up to date on all their sporting news. Following their recent NBA basketball announcement, Viigo has launched its NCAA basketball service, just in time for the start of the Men’s college season. While I don’t normally get NCAA crazy until March Madness begins (there’s just too many NBA games to watch), I must admit the NCAA has already captured my attention (how did Rhode Island almost beat Duke?). I’m also quite interested to see how Stephen Curry, who made a big slash at the tourney last year, progresses as a point guard. Whatever your interest, Viigo’s NCAA service provides access to the scores, schedules, news and commentary you need to follow your alma mater.
For current Viigo/BlackBerry Cool to Go users looking to add the NCAA basketball service, simply select “Sports” from the Viigo home screen and then “Add Sport” from the following page. If you don’t have the BlackBerry Cool To Go version of Viigo yet, click the link below to download it for free! Make sure to also check out Viigo’s NFL, NHL, NCAA Football and Soccer services as well!

It’s interesting how some worlds and demographics can overlap so easy. For example, I am a BlackBerry fanatic, but I also live and breathe sports (go Raptors, Habs, Bears, Jays, Tottenham Hotspurs!!). Reuters has an interesting feature today on technology spurring the growth of fantasy sports, and it appears the BlackBerry is playing a significant role:
If Scott Troetel is out with friends when the Indianapolis Colts are playing, he often reaches for his Blackberry to check how running back Joseph Addai is doing. But Troetel, who is 32 and lives in Boulder, Colorado, is not particularly interested in the Colts. Addai’s performance is crucial to “Addai in the Life,” Troetel’s fantasy football team.
It should be noted that there is a lot of money being made off fantasy sports and the BlackBerry space is no exception. Who is in first place? Companies like good BBCool friend 4Info, who expects that 15% of the 500 million text messages they’ll send out this year will be to people seeking sports results to feed into their fantasy sports teams.
Question time, folks: do you love your BlackBerry and sports? If so, how do you use your BlackBerry to stay up to date on all the latest news?

Viigo’s sports portfolio is happily expanding, now locked onto Formula One, NASCAR, Tour de France and IndyCar news. Sports are a big part of Viigo’s new default channel listing, and the possibility of not only checking your scores, but also getting upcoming events, news items via RSS, and hey who knows, maybe even live video on your BlackBerry someday. If you’re packing the latest beta of Viigo, scope out the Sports channel, and if you’re still on the classic, hit menu, go to Add Channel, Sports, Chose Sport, then Motorsport to keep tabs on the fastest-moving billboards on the planet. Haven’t heard of Viigo? It’s a great little RSS-reader for your BlackBerry that’s working on delivering all sorts of content and services in its ongoing Project Tango. It’s free, so go on and pick up Viigo!
