I haven’t taken to reviewing any themes because I’ve found so few that really satisfy me. But I recently stumbled across an eye-pleasing theme that changed all of that. The Curve 8900 Replica Theme by BNS Designs is sharp and clean, effectively turning your old curve – one you may thought of turning in for a new BlackBerry 8900 – into a fresh new device. Yes, it’s just the theme – you won’t magically find the wi-fi icon in the home tray (unless you already have that feature) – but it’s much more aesthetically pleasant than Telus’s OS 4.3 stock theme. CB has posted their exclusive on a new free theme called ‘Slick Pool‘ designed by Obscene (BlackberryThemes.Ca). The theme is a nice and simple design and animated to boot. Watch the water rippling across your homescreen. Don’t worry, this theme won’t slow down your device.
If you’re a gamer or a Gears of War fan, you’ll surely like this free theme for the BlackBerry Storm. The theme comes in 2 types so you can try out both and see what you like best.

This definitely isn’t the nicest looking theme I have seen but it’s free. If you’re a theme junkie with an 83XX series device then check it out. It hasn’t been through the necessary QA so don’t bet your life that it’ll work. Here are some notes from the developer:
When you do receive a message, there will be a red dot next to Messages caret.
The Snow Globe theme has recently launched on Bplay and it’s a cute little theme that goes well with the holiday spirit. Although, if you lived up here in Canada, it wouldn’t be a snow globe so much as a harsh blizzard of death sphere. Anyone care to develop that theme?
I’m not one for starting Internet flame wars because they get incredibly childish and I start to get severe heart palpitations when I open my inbox to find a thousand emails from a forum where said flame war began. That being said, I found a BlackBerry Bold review that I wanted to call everyone’s attention to and help the guy out. The review can be found here, and I’ll point out some quotes where the reviewer could be pointed to links that he may not know about. For example: Continue reading some highlights of this review
Well, the school year’s barely started, and Bplay has already clenched their vicelike grip on the woefully short attention spans of the world’s BlackBerry-toting student populace. Absolutely every item they’ve got in store has had its prices cut substantially. Who knows how long the savings will stick around, so better get hopping. Not sure what to get? Here are our top five picks for themes and games. Be sure to check out their ringtone gallery, too!
Yeah, that new bottom-bar Precision Zen theme is pretty slick, but some of us are still plenty happy with the oldies, like Today and the slightly-newer L theme. Well, it looks like someone over at Howard Forums has managed to hack in the old styles onto the Bold, and they look alright! Of course we’ll have to wait until the official Theme Developer Kit for OS 4.6 comes out before we can see some stuff that really takes advantage of the Bold’s screen and processor. The Plazmic CDK for 4.5 was just released late last month, so it might take awhile before we start seeing some proper shiny new themes, but this does get us day-dreaming about what’s next.
Curious to know what exactly you’re missing with the BlackBerry Bold? RIM’s Knowledge Base is now listing the official new features in device software 4.6. Nothing hugely new (that Q hotkey for the vibrate profile is nice to know, and switching to Bluetooth headset mid-call is nifty), but now we’ve got all the updates in one spot.
A new BlackBerry theme came out today for the Pearl, Curve and 8800-series which will tickle pink any nostalgic gamers out there. Every icon is an animated sprite from a certain game involving certain Italian plumbers stomping on certain turtles attempting to rescue a certain princess. While “Classic Video Game Theme” might be a thinly-veiled attempt to evade IP lawyers, it’s still a slick looking theme. As far as I’m concerned, it’s only a matter of time before Nintendo’s legal banhammer comes down on this one, so pick it up while you can!
