Bplay is running a contest right now where you can win daily prizes, an iPod Touch and $500 USD cash. The contest ends November 7th.

To play, all you have to do is grab a copy of Texas Hold’em King 3, available on a free trial or purchase for $4.99. In game, join the contest mode and submit a bankroll high score. Entries larger than $2,000 are eligible for a daily prize.

To win more, go to Magmic Social and register for the contest. If you have a bankroll larger than $5,000 and are registered, you automatically become eligible to win the grand prize. If you don’t see where do register, look for the “Contest” tab.

Magmic Social’s resident poker pro: the Pirate is back. This week he’s giving away lots of BlackBerry booty for anyone who can beat him at his favorite game: Texas Hold ‘em King 3 Connected.

To win, track down, and eliminate the Pirate in a connected play money game. Once you’ve tracked down the Pirate, you’ll have to message him in-game so he knows you’re from BBCool. With the launch of App World you may be wondering, what do RIM executives have on their device? Well, Jim Balsillie, aka Jim Dog, the co-chief executive and director of Research in Motion (RIM), has some great apps on his that you can download too.

So what apps does Balsillie have on his BlackBerry?

He said he uses an SAP app for RIM sales and performance, Hockeynews.com for the latest scores and standings, Magmic for card games and others for news and information.

“So when I am bored, I play card games,” he said. “Guilty as charged.”

Hi my name is W4LNUT. I’m going to be running a weekly contest here on BlackBerry Cool that is all about BlackBerry gaming. I play a ton of games on a daily basis and you’d be hard pressed to beat a lot of my high scores.

Texas Hold’em King 3 is by far the best poker game out for BlackBerry. It’s got full in-game chat, vibration for when it’s your turn, and you can even trick out your Avatar through your online profile at Magmic Social

To Win, be one of the first ten people to find W4LNUT on a THK3 table and tell him “I’m social” using the in-game chat.

How to improve your mobile poker experience

If you’re a mobile poker fan, chances are you’ve played either Texas Hold’em King 2 or 3 by Magmic. THK2 comes free with a BlackBerry Bold on AT&T and the entire AT&T network (all handsets) have access to THK3. Personally, I can’t see the justification in playing THK2 when the sequel comes with more avatar personalization as well as a generally better multiplayer experience.

Recently, I was playing THK3 and got a message to check out Social.Magmic.com after finishing a table. The site is clearly in its Alpha stage, but it is something I have never seen before in the BlackBerry gaming space.

Magmic Social is a social networking site aimed at connecting Magmic gamers to one another with the end result of improving the overall mobile gaming experience. It does this in a few ways:

Twitter functionality: You can register your Twitter account with Magmic Social and connect with other Twitter users who have similar mobile gaming interests. Also, Magmic Social has the ability to push information to your Twitter account and notify mobile gamers in your network.

Notifications: Through Magmic Social, I can build a network of friends and get notifications for when they are playing Texas Hold’em King 2 or 3.

Messaging: You can message other players on the site and get in touch with people playing the same game as you.

Discussions: Have a problem in-game? Want to build your friend network? There is a built-in forum to help you connect with all the pro THK players out there.

BlackBerry Guy visits the Lincoln Memorial

Right now our friends to the south are celebrating their independence, while the Canadian contingent of the BlackBerry Nation is recovering from the celebration of ours. Still, I’m sure the intense summertime revelry hasn’t stopped us from using our beloved BlackBerrys.

So BlackBerry Cool HQ wants you to display your pride for the BlackBerry Nation. Whether it’s an embarrassing story of getting caught using your BlackBerry somewhere you shouldn’t (the shower comes to mind), climbing the Lincoln Memorial to get better wireless reception, or a link to a photo/video displaying your intense love of BlackBerry, we want it.

Why do you need 3g? The BlackBerry Bold is coming (someday. Sigh.) All the latest rumors seem to indicate that a 3G iPhone could be announced as early as next Monday. But the question remains: why do you want 3G?

Is it for faster web-browsing? Multiplayer gaming? MP3 and other media downloads? Because EDGE’s 2.5G seems so 2005? Post a comment and let us know how a 3G BlackBerry is going to change your life, and if it gives you pause for concern in any way. For example, while an entirely different technology than what will be in the Bold, my EV-DO BlackBerry 8330 is balls for battery life. Do you believe RIM’s battery life assurances?

Texas Hold’em King 3 Splash Screen Huge news for BlackBerry road-warriors who fought off the doldrums of boring meetings, flight delays and (dare I say it?) bad dates with Magmic’s classic Texas Hold’em King 2, one of the best games available for your BB. We just received word today from our friends at the Big M that THK2’s sequel, Texas Hold’em King 3: Connected, will be released on April 14th.

We’ve been told that THK3 features avatars with adjustable facial expressions, advanced high scores, objective based awards, an integrated buddy list and a lobby for choosing tables. I personally can’t wait to fill up my buddy list with BBCool staffers and take all their (play) money. Stay tuned for a review, but for now, enjoy some screenshots after the jump.
