TwitVid launches Twitter video application in App World

Comments

twitvid

TwitVid have launched their application in App World today, giving users yet another means with which to send video to Twitter. Currently, the service is available in UberTwitter, a free Twitter client for BlackBerry.

UPDATE: Now, when you access a Twitvid link, you get sent to a mobile optimized site where you can view the Twitvid with several options. You can play or stream in “hi” or “reg” quality. There is also a preview function and an audio only option.

That being said, the concept of sending video through Twitter is great. It adds another level of interaction among the Twitter community and makes for some potentially hilarious tweets.

Check out TwitVid, the free video to Twitter client for BlackBerry.

ubertwitter_screenshot

UPDATE: The latest version of UberTwitter comes with advertising, much like other free apps such as Viigo. There are hints that a paid, ad-free version will be coming.

UberTwitter is by far one of the best free Twitter clients available for BlackBerry. Today, they’ve released their Beta 4 for download and it has some great new features and updates.

Some of the cooler features include support for TwitVid and Bit.ly. Other updates to UberTwitter include:

  • Multiple Accounts – You can now configure multiple accounts, each with their own set of on-device preferences.
  • You can now BLOCK people!
  • Video Integration – We have partnered with TwitVid.com to offer you an outstanding video integration.
  • Goto user – You can now enter twitter users name and go directly to their timeline
  • URL Shortening – we’ve integrated with bit.ly so you can easily send those long URLs now and not bump up against the 140 limit
  • MUCH faster photo uploads, significantly improving the user experience.
  • Use of the internal GPS is now solidly supported with proper fallback to cell tower based location when GPS isn’t available.
  • Icon Caching If you have and SD card, we will cache avatar icons on the card, increasing the speed of timeline displays and reducing network traffic.
  • You can now select pictures and videos that have already been take and are on your device. The interface shows the most recent at the top and offers a preview so you can verify it is the picture/video you expected!
  • When composing a tweet you can now insert symbols from a large selection of commonly available characters such as smiley’s, hearts, etc.
  • Integrated advertisements – Please note, the ads are there to support the freely distributable version of ÜberTwitter. Users that purchase ÜberTwitter will not have advertisement in their version.
  • We’ve streamlined the friends and followers lists
  • You can now see both the number of friends, followers, and tweets sent when viewing the details of a tweet.
  • Replying to a DM from the timeline will now correctly send a DM and not a regular tweet
  • Fixed the bug in reply all where it would truncate some twitter user names
  • Added reply all to the menu when viewing a tweet

You can download the Beta 4 release of UberTwitter free, by visiting http://www.ubertwitter.com/bb/download.php from your BlackBerry Browser.

elog.com adds attachments and Twitter functionality

Comment

When we last wrote about elog.com, the service that lets you create web pages from emails, the company was on the fence about offering attachments. Well they’ve opened up their service to include attachments so you can add pictures and video to your webpages.

elog.com is a simple and non-invasive service. Your website looks exactly like the email you send and it can serve a variety of purposes. To create your own web page, just send an email to newpage@elog.com. Your email can have pretty much anything you want in it and your new web page will look just like the email you send. You will be issued a public web page, e.g. 1993.elog.com, that others can view immediately. To update your web page with new content, just send an email to it, e.g. 1993@elog.com.

Another feature includes includes the ability to have your emails sent to Twitter. If you have a Twitter account and you send an email to tweet@elog.com, your tweet will be posted and an auto-generated webpage contains the body of your email, completely unadulterated.

You can have a look at a quick example here.

Comments

Social networking has become a popular component of Viigo. In Tango 9, Release 3, Viigo introduced a feature rich Twitter client. With this new feature, you can initiate a tweet, follow the public timeline, your friends timeline or your followers timeline. You can also view direct messages, favorite messages, mentions and more.

Here is a breakdown of features available:

  • Follow the public timeline, your friends timeline (home) or your followers timeline.
  • Read Direct Messages, Favorite Messages and Mentions
  • Initiate a Tweet, Retweet and Retweet all
  • Perform searches on key words so you can see when people are discussing a topic of interest to you.
  • See whether a person is following you, or not, by the color of the text (green being yes and red being no).
  • See if a person has been validated by Twitter
  • If there is a picture added to a tweet it will appear within the post.
  • If the tweet included a hash tag the hash tag will also automatically appear in your reply.
  • The reply all feature will show up automatically if more than one person was included in a tweet.

Getting set up to use Twitter in Viigo is easy:

Top 5 sites for posting to social media from your BlackBerry

Comments

facebook

Your BlackBerry can be used in a wide variety of ways for interacting with social media and networks. One of these ways is via email. There are several sites out there that allow you to send media to them via email, and have that media pushed to your facebook and social networks. I’ve taken the time to roundup 5 of these sites; my favorite being Posterous.

1. Posterous.com

Posterous allows you to publish anything online via email and their facebook integration is terrific. I have it set so that every time I upload 3 or more photos, a new album is created in facebook. When there is less than three, they get published in a ‘Posterous’ album. In one particular album, I have over 250 pics!

Posterous also has integrations with Twitter most other social networks, so for me it has become my go-to option for online publishing. All you need to do to get started on Posterous is send an email to post@posterous.com.

Preview of new vPost email messenger and scribble feature

Comments

vPost update

vPost has been working hard at updating their product for both consumer and enterprise. The foundations of this application are very robust and the potential for it includes almost every industry, which is why the app has gone through so many updates. As the app evolves to provide consumers with new features and better functionality, the number of enterprise uses grows.

The most recent update to vPost, which is called version 2.2 tentatively, includes the ability to use your vPost app as an “email messenger.” The application lets you add a list of contacts to the app, where you can share a variety of rich media with the user in a few simple clicks.

What’s new in the next version of vPost:

  • Unlimited favorites (add pictures to contacts then from address book hit menu -> ‘vpost favourite’). This is the feature that can turn vPost into an ‘email messenger.’
  • The ability to move around and delete widgets.
  • Take screenshots. Once vPost is launched, an option to take ‘vPost screenshot’ will show up in the menu.
  • Full thumbnail view mode for attaching existing media.
  • Scribble mode. This will enable users to mark-up pictures with text, lines, and objects.
  • Restaurant review widget. Prepare your post and use this new widget to easily rate and review your dining experience.

Disclaimer: Some of these features may not be in the next vPost as this is an advanced preview but hopefully they all make it in.
