Virgin Mobile Canada launches BlackBerry Curve 8330

Virgin Mobile Canada has officially released their second BlackBerry handset, the BlackBerry Curve 8330. Virgin seems hell-bent on locking Canadians into a three year contract, but the price seems about right at $49.99 on a 3-year contract (with any BlackBerry Bundle). Otherwise, our fellow Canucks will have to shell out $329.99 on a 2-year plan, $379.99 on a 1-year plan or $429.99 for 30 days (read: not worth it).

To sweeten the arrangement, Virgin is throwing in an 8GB MicroSD card while supplies last. Hopefully they will also make a new video promoting the ‘Virgin Lifestyle’.

Virgin Mobile Canada gets the BlackBerry Curve

The devilish chaps over at IntoMobile just sent me an email saying that Virgin Mobile Canada is set to carry the BlackBerry Curve 8330 starting in November for $99 on a three year contract. Currently, Virgin only carries the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, which may seem like a small selection (it is), but Virgin is all about the cheap plans. You can see their BlackBerry Bundle monthly plan chart after the jump.

Kickstart madness and the Q3 lineup (BlackBerry Cool Podcast: Episode 36)

BlackBerry Cool Podcast: Episode 36

The flip BlackBerry now known as the Pearl 8220 is the big story this week, along with plenty of other info regarding Rogers’ plans for BlackBerry Bold and the slightly less-appreciated BlackBerry Curve with Wi-Fi. Lots of talk regarding their rebranded UMA service, Talkspot, but we also hit on Verizon and Telus getting the BlackBerry Thunder, and Virgin Mobile’s entry into the Canadian BlackBerry scene.

Virgin Mobile releasing BlackBerry 8130 in Canada

Virgin Mobile\'s BlackBerry PearlAs previously rumored, Virgin Mobile is now offering the BlackBerry Pearl for free on a three-year contract. The big seller here is that they’re throwing in 8 GB memory cards on all activations. Yow. Plenty of carriers hand out 1 GB cards as incentives, 8 GB cards are not only hard to find, but can get pretty pricey, too. As for plans, Virgin’s got voice and text plans starting at $25/month and BlackBerry plans from $15/month and up. If you want more info, the web store is really cleanly set up, and makes picking your options pretty dang easy.

Canada’s Virgin Mobile bringing the BlackBerry 8130?

Rumor has it the BlackBerry 8130 will be gracing Canadian MVNO Virgin Mobile next month for free on a three-year contract, $CAN 299.95 on two years, $CAN 399.95 with three, and $CAN 449.95 with no strings attached. With August coming soon, and the Kickstart in the pipes, it’s expected that the BlackBerry Pearl will start working its way to the discount carriers. This is also Virgin Mobile Canada’s first BlackBerry, so congrats on getting that ‘berry popped.
