BlackBerry World Wireless Achievement Awards

blackberry world voting

RIM set up a voting site for the Wireless Achievement Awards at BlackBerry World and there 3 apps to vote on. The Achievement Awards are a little suspect as there are only 3 apps in the finals and they’re all developed by large enterprise organizations. In any case, if you’re a fan of any of these apps, you can head over and vote. The voting site closes 5:00pm EST on Tuesday May 3rd.

BlackBerry World Session Catalog Now Live

former WES conference

The BlackBerry World Session Catalog is now live and it looks like this conference, despite the rebrand, is still very much geared towards large enterprise. This makes sense as RIM will likely save the more consumer-level news and sessions for the BlackBerry Developer Conference, which is conveniently located in San Francisco. This year’s conference is focused on business, IT, and development needs, as well as the tablet’s impact on the office of tomorrow.

[Audio] WES 2010: Interview with Baltimore Police on BlackBerry

Comments

Click here to listen to an interview with Gayle Guilford, Director of Management Information Systems for the Baltimore Police.

I conducted an interview at WES 2010 with Gayle Guilford, Director of Management Information Systems for the Baltimore Police. She and her team have been working hard piloting and implementing the use of BlackBerry smartphones as an integral part of a beat cop’s tool belt.

PocketCop by InterAct can access the police database for outstanding warrants, mugshots, and info. The system also uses GPS asset tracking so that dispatchers can get a bird’s eye view of police coverage, and dispatch backup much quicker and from closer positioned units than ever before. The camera can also be used to gather evidence instead of calling a police photographer in from the station.
