Nokia E-Series Smartphones Delayed

Nokia was suppose to ship their E-Series smartphones that directly compete with RIM’s Blackberry devices at the end of March but had to delay shipment a few weeks after it sorts out some software issues.

“The basic issue is really about the interoperability of various enterprise applications … (like) email device management and so on,” Pekka Isosomppi, spokesman for Nokia’s Enterprise division discussing the reason for the delay.

Nokia unveiled the E60, E61 and E70 handsets in October which caused a lot of buzz around the mobile world because it was Nokia’s first real foray into the enterprise market and should show us what Nokia has been doing with Intellisync, a push-email company Nokia acquired last year. Last week it was also announced that the Motorola Q would be delayed a few weeks so it may seem that two of the largest handset manufacturers will be launching competing Blackberry devices at the same time.
