Clairmail Makes Access to Enterprise Information Easier

ClairMail has developed a new technology that allows Blackberry users to access enterprise information through email or messaging on their BlackBerry. Basically it allows a sales rep or any employee for that matter to send an email to retrieve specific information like a sales report. A salesperson can send an email to “” and then receives an email with all the relevant sales information from SAP or Salesforce on Proctor & Gamble.

This way is very interesting especially from a Blackberry standpoint. Instead of going through the browser or a custom 3rd party program, Clairmail works on the strength of the Blackberry device and sends information through email instead. A lot of people agree and Clairmail has attracted solid backing from venture capitalists and was recently nomited to “Red Herring 100 North America”, which is list of technology companies that reflect promising innovations.

This is a great idea, and we need to see more like it. Too often we are trying to invent the wheel all over again, rather than use the tools that are at our disposal to get the job done. With a BB on one end, and a good fast response server on the other, this becomes an almost instantaneous way of getting information. I would love to see some non-commercial applications for this as well… say you send an email to with a word in the subject line, and get a definition returned… or, etc, etc. The application for email services like this is huge.

I already use this type of service to track UPS packages, why not a lot more? Why open a browser if you don’t need to?
