Magmic launches BPlay

Acknowledging nods go to our good pals at QuicklyBored for this press release. I know we’ve talked about it before, but it really is an exciting time to be a BlackBerry owner. Magmic, the leader in BlackBerry game decelopment, has put together BPlay, a “next-generation mobile content portal exclusively for RIM devices, housing the world’s top brands and content for Blackberry users. Bplay provides one-click access to AAA games, music and lifestyle applications.” Here’s to copy and pasting, I guess.

This is great, especially with the introduction and capabilities of the Pearl (and hopefully soon - the BlackBerry 8800). Being able to download games, music, ringtones on your “hot, new” device is pretty swell, and BPlay takes all those brand names you dig so much and puts them in one “hot, new” service. Check out the official release after the jump.

Bplay, a division of Magmic Games, has launched an entertainment portal with the world’s top brands and products exclusively for BlackBerry® handsets.

October 5, 2006 - Magmic Games, the world’s largest developer and publisher of games for BlackBerry® handsets, has launched a new division called Bplay, which builds on their entertainment products for BlackBerry to include the best-in-class content from the world’s top entertainment publishers such as THQ Wireless, PopCap Games, Konami, Globalfun and NTRA (National Thoroughbred Racing Association).

Bplay will provide a mobile content portal housing the world’s top brands in entertainment to service the growing BlackBerry® market. Bplay is the premiere BlackBerry entertainment aggregator with a whitelabel solution for mobile service providers and telecommunication carriers to sell the experience direct to their end-users. The solution includes a Web store front and an on-device icon for downloading content over the air.

“We are excited to be launching Bplay with the world’s best brands and properties and believe that BlackBerry users will further embrace entertainment and gaming as an integral part of their device experience,” stated Nicholas Reichenbach, Vice President of Bplay.

Visit from the browser in your BlackBerry handset to enjoy the best branded entertainment content including Frogger®, Destroy All Humans®, Dance Dance Revolution®, Breeders’ Cup (NTRA) ®, Texas Hold’em King 2®, the classic board game Stratego®, and many more!

I just recently got a replacement 8700r and when it “booted” up, it featured a home screen icon to Blackberry Help.
I check it every few days…..Bplay was featured there a week ago…and is a great site, recognizing BBerry model used etc.

[…] We broke the news to you (well, semi-broke) yesterday about BPlay - the new source for all-things entertainment for your BlackBerry, developed by those kids over at Magmic. We had the chance to sit down with BPlay’s Nicholas Reichenbach (who, I think, drinks charisma for breakfast) and talked about BPlay and the future of BlackBerry entertainment. […]

[…] I’m all for gaming on my BlackBerry, and this is pretty exciting. But Roll Dice, I think, has a bit of a ways to go if the most exciting games they have to offer are Poker, Sudoku, Chess, Backgammon and Mahjong (as noted in the press release). There’s some better avenues for games out there, but hey, at least they’re helping the movement. […]
