RIM’s Kavelman noted as “next CEO”

…but with who? In an article penned by the National Post, Research in Motion’s Chief Financial Officer Dennis Kavelman has been voted as one of the top 25 upcoming CEO’s. It’s an interesting read to say the least, but where exactly will Kavelman end up in the grand scheme of things? Will he stay with the company he’s been with since ‘95 when there were only 30 employees, or will he realize that there’s already two heavy-hitting CEOs at RIM and seek solace elsewhere?

At his age, and with his resume, there isn’t much Mr. Kavelman can’t do. If he makes a move, it may be to a large company with big growth plans. There are two big bosses ahead of him: RIM’s co-CEOs Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis.

Quotable quotes “He started when there were only 30 employees at the company and he just keeps on trucking,” says Mr. Stern. “He’s smart, he’s adaptable…. He’s doing something right.”

Just a reminder that Kavelman will be speaking tomorrow at the Scotia Capital Telecom & Tech Conference. You’ll be able to stream the supposed-next CEO’s presentation straight from RIM’s site.
