First look at OS 5.0 for the BlackBerry Curve

Boy Genius has scored another scoop, but this time it’s not a new BlackBerry device. Rather, it’s the first (and extremely early) look at OS 5.0, shown here running on a BlackBerry 8310. So far in it’s early state it looks very much like OS 4.6, with the Alarm and Accessibility options seen on the BlackBerry Bold. However, there is one new feature to whet the appetite: the Files application, which appears to add network share access.

We’ll let you know if anything further develops with OS 5.0. Personally, I’m hoping for the ability to shoot lasers out of my BlackBerry, but that’s just me.

Um, can we PLEASE just have 4.5 or .6 for the curve? Telling us all about 5.0 while ATT drags their feet on 4.5 is maddening. At this point, I just don’t even care about 5.0 - in fact, they should STOP wasting their time on it and get us our ugrade first. Argh.

First off, no OS updates will be OTA.. And secondly, this is just a preview of the leaked 5.0. There is nothing out available to the public yet. And lastly, head over to and take a look around. There are several links to 4.5 OS versions that will work fine on ATT 8310 Curves and the instructions explaining how to install them.

    Good luck…

this is sooooooooooooooooooooooo stupid. every one else on crackberry has the 5.0 upgrade except for the 8310. if the other curves and blackberrys have it we should get it. WE NEED THE UPGRADE FOR REAL!!!!
