BlackBerry Tablet “BlackPad” to be Priced at $499 and Available in November

Rumor has it that the BlackBerry Tablet, which could possibly be named the BlackPad, will be priced at $499 and launch as early as November. So far, we’ve heard the tablet will be a companion device to the BlackBerry and may have the following specs:

  • A 9.7 inch display
  • No Mobile Network connectivity
  • Bluetooth
  • WiFi
  • Front and rear facing cameras

The source of this news comes from a Chinese website claiming that the company Quanta has seen some great success with tablet shipments, including 2 million units to RIM in September, with another 8 million to be shipped the following year.

On a side note, does anyone else want to take a shot at a Photoshop rendering of the BlackPad? We’ve been using the above rendering that is a little silly. The BlackPad won’t likely come with a giant speaker and massive LED light. Or maybe it will…

But will it have a user replaceable battery?

I'd love to be awakened by a giant flashing red light in the middle of the night.

If they can't get their phones to work properly, I don't have faith that this will work either… Too bad. I really, really did love RIM a few years ago.

It has to have a user replaceable battery. You need that for the hard crashes requiring a battery pull.
