UPDATED: Somebody Needs to Fix Instagram Posts On BlackBerry Browsers


UPDATE: Nice! This has been fixed.

We’ve known about the Facebook acquisition of Instagram for some time now and yesterday, the company acknoledged the acqusiiton on its corporate news section with a post titled “Welcoming Instagram to Facebook“. In the post, Facebook says, “We also can’t wait to work with the talented Instagram team to improve the mobile experience.” Now, we’ve talked before on the site how the Instagram experience on Facebook for iOS is beautiful and lacking on BlackBerry, but what about the simple fact that the service is basically incompatible with the BlackBerry Browser? Instagram seems to have a beef with BlackBerry that makes their service look terrible on BlackBerry Browsers, but maybe now with Facebook behind them, they might take the small amount of effort required to make their service compatible with BlackBerry Browsers.

BlackBerry Playbook OS Updated to Version 2.0.1


Playbook owners were greeted with a small update today, bringing the current BlackBerry Playbook OS to v2.0.1.358. The free update can be downloaded over-the-air by either clicking on the update notification or going to settings then update software.

PlayBook OS 2 HTML5 Tests Show Off New Turbo-Boosted Browser [Video]


The latest update to the PlayBook has been pretty incredible. Not only does the update bring native email, contacts and calendar to the tablet, but it also has some awesome behind-the-scenes updates including a turbo-boosting of the hardware accelerated capabilities of the PlayBook OS 2 browser. PlayBook OS 2 Browser #1 for HTML5 Test Ahead of iOS, Android, WebOS and All Others


HTML5test.com is a great source for seeing how platforms are performing with their HTML5 implementations. What’s really amazing to see is that with PlayBook OS 2, RIM has blown the competition out the water and hit the number 1 spot for best performing implementation of HTML5 in the latest browser. The browser improvements is just one feature on many that we’ve been using in the latest version of the tablet OS and we can wait to see the next update. The tablet is really coming along and now is a great time to pick one up.

Opera Mini 6.5 Released for BlackBerry


Today, Opera released the latest version of Opera Mini. If you’re looking for an alternative to the native BlackBerry browser, I recommend checking it out. I had the chance to meet with Mahi de Silva, EVP of Consumer Mobile, at the Open Mobile Summit being held in San Francisco. We spoke at length about how Opera has been providing browsing capabilities worldwide for over 15 years. What really impressed me with the latest version of Opera was the browsers data optimization features.
